The Altland House
If you happen to be in the Abbottsown, Penna, you should try Altland House Restaurant and Brewery. Altland House Restaurant was established in 1954 by the Haugh family. The Altland House has hosted many dignitaries, including President and Mamie Eisenhower, BillyJoel, and Christy Brinkley. The Altland House catered President Eisenhower's granddaughter's wedding at the Gettysburg farm. The tradition for fine food and service continues well into the third generation.
The Cuisine
There are five types of menus, including lunch, brunch, and dinner. The lunch menu includes sandwiches, wraps burgers, and soup. The dinner menu comes complete with soup, salad, and entrees like meat, seafood, chicken, and vegetable side dishes. The brunch menu features yogurt, muffins, and bagels, The express menu includes Mexican meals and Italian dishes.
Inn
The Altland House is more than a restaurant. The management's very happy to put you up for your stay in the Abbotstown area. The Inn has been hosting guests since 1790. The Inn is wired for internet. The rooms come with hairdryers, alarm clock, coffee maker, a microwave, mini refrigerator, iron and ironing board, There are two private meeting rooms. The Altland is a good place to stay if you are in town for a wedding, re-union, business travel, corporate event, etc.

Trip Advisor gives the altland house a four star rating. One family on the way to Maryland had stopped at Althouse. They enjoyed the food and the band. The adults said the beer was cold enough for them. The staff was friendly. The family said it was better than staying at a regular inn. A woman said she, her husband, and teenage son stayed at Altland House on a recent visit to Gettysburg. The Inn was a cozy, romantic, and quaint place to stay.
